I lost my job yesterday. Sadly when the economy is bad, people don't travel to foreign countries. It's not as if I didn't see that one coming -- in fact my life has been pretty much obsessed with watching economic news since January. Still it's never a good feeling.
The sad thing is I really loved my job and perhaps saddest of all, I completely understand what happened, why it happened to me and quite a few other people at the company too. It doesn't exactly make it easier to take. So amidst job-searching, I will be around if anybody wants to get together and cheer me up.
Seth's dad had to let 12 people go, so sadly I don't think Ethan Allen is hiring. Sorry about your job. I'll come cheer you up soon.
ReplyDeleteAlex, I'm really sorry to hear about this!! This really sucks. Let us know if there's anything we can do to help.
ReplyDeleteI was laid off the Friday before Labor Day. I was off of work for 7 weeks. The good news is a found another job. I know what you mean abot loving your job you just lost. Hang in there. Something will come your way soon.

Hey, I was out of work for, well, I don't want to scare you, but it was a long time. I found something eventually. You will, too. Until then, though, try to find the upside.
ReplyDeleteAt least you don't have to worry about getting any extra time off to spend with your family around Thanksgiving, maybe even Christmas and New Year's! Look at it as a mini-leave-of-absence. You could get caught up on your reading.
Hang in there and don't forget to file for unemployment ASAP. Most of the time, you can even do it on the phone.
Sorry that the 'economy' got you too! i'm more sorry that I have no way of delivering condolences through cupcakes and cookies!
ReplyDeleteGood luck and enjoy getting to stay warm under nice comfy blankets instead of venturing to the cold outside!
Hi. You don't know me, but Kat sent us over to cheer you up a bit. Sorry about our economy, and hope you find another job you love sooner than you expect.
ReplyDelete(If you make brownies, and eat them, you'll feel cheered up for at least a little while. Or maybe put some Bailey's in your coffee? Works for me anyway.)
Hi Kat's best friend! One of my 3rd grade hebrew students drew a picture of the economy last week. I was a hat with devil horns on it. I thought he did a good job, except for it had nothing to do with hebrew.
ReplyDeleteDid I mention he also drew a guy chugging ten cans of beer and it said, "I like beer" next to it?
Sorry you lost your job, according to my student the economy is the devil and you should just go drink a lot of beer.
Hi! Kat sent me here! And I graduated in May. Kinda the worst timing ever, right?! Anyway I've been looking for a job since March, and I have this contract one, but I still haven't found a fulltime one. BUT the good news is, YOU have more experience than me, THEREFORE you'll have much better luck. Also, tequila helps.
